Hello everyone, in this analysis we will examine the micro expressions on Ekrem İmamoğlu's face while Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was speaking at the metro opening in Istanbul. For those who do not know about micro expressions, in short; it is the emergence and disappearance of emotions that are being suppressed on the face in a fifth of a second. The reason this scene was chosen is; There are claims on the agenda that Ekrem İmamoğlu will be a presidential candidate, and in the chosen scene, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu makes very sharp statements about İmamoğlu, stating that he will continue his mayoralty. For this reason, the micro expressions we see on İmamoğlu's face reveal his clear feelings about his candidacy for the presidency.

Let's examine the micro expressions we captured in order:

#1 - UNDERESTIMATE EXPRESSION

The contempt micro expression, one of the 7 universal micro expressions, is the only asymmetrical expression among the 7. When we divide the face equally in half, there is muscle movement only in one part. Although its equivalent in Turkish always seems negative, it can also have a neutral or positive meaning in different contexts. For example, when we look at the screen while taking a selfie and look down.

Here, there is an expression of contempt already established on the face, but at a micro level, the corner of the right lip is pulled back. I interpret contempt in such contexts as 'underestimating the other party's lack of knowledge', in other words, it can also be said in colloquial terms as 'if only you knew what I know'. You can also make your own comments at the bottom of the page.

#2 - ANGER EXPRESSION

The feeling of anger is revealed by the suppression of the muscles in the face. The most obvious symptoms are the pressing of the lips, the furrowing of the eyebrows, the widening of the nostrils, the shining of the eyes and the protrusion of the chin.

In this part, we see that the lips are tense and pressed together. It would not be right to interpret this situation as being angry only at Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's words, as he may have been angry at another situation at that moment. Do you think that the anger that was being suppressed at that moment was directed at someone from the environment or at the person he was addressing? You can write your answers in the comments section at the top of the page.

#3 - EXPRESSION OF DISGUST

In the last stage, we see the micro expression of disgust. Unfortunately, disgust is only understood and used in our language in the sense of 'disgust', but disgust as a feeling actually occurs when we are in unwanted situations.

The feeling of disgust is revealed by the lifting of the upper lip on our face and the subsequent tightening of the nose. Considering the information and findings up to this stage, I personally think that the feeling of disgust here overlaps with the feeling of being 'in an unwanted place' that I just mentioned. I am waiting for your comments.

Micro expressions only reflect the emotions that a person is experiencing at that moment and does not want to express. Blending emotions with thoughts and interpreting them according to situations distances us from certainty. For this reason, micro expression findings alone will never lead us to a definitive conclusion. My comment on the general picture is that all these emotions are 'repressed' emotions, which clearly shows that the fire of candidacy has not faded within Ekrem İmamoğlu.
